We have created our Community Guidelines so you can help us create a community where everyone is welcome. By using Miit, you agree to these guidelines and our Terms of Use. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in deleted content, disabled accounts, or other restrictions. Here’s the nuts and bolts.

Miit is for genuine content and connections

Share only photos and videos that have the right to share.

As always, you own the content you post on Miit. Remember to post authentic content, and don’t post anything you’ve copied or collected from the Internet that you don’t have the right to post.

Say no to spam.

Don’t post repetitive comments or content, or repeatedly contact people for commercial purposes without their consent. Don’t offer money or giveaways of money in exchange for engagement. Don’t post content that engages in, promotes, encourages, facilitates, or admits to the offering, solicitation or trade of fake and misleading user reviews or ratings.

Miit is SFW (Safe For Work)

In short that means if the content you’re posting is NSFW it shouldn’t be on Miit. Although you need to be over 18 years old to use Miit, we are also conscious that minors may at times be exposed to content shared on Miit and will assess all content with that in mind.

Specifically we don’t allow nudity on Miit. This includes photos, videos, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks. It also includes some photos of female nipples, but photos in the context of breastfeeding, birth giving and after-birth moments, health-related situations (for example, post-mastectomy, breast cancer awareness or gender confirmation surgery) or an act of protest are allowed. Nudity in photos of paintings and sculptures is OK, too.

For safety reasons we may remove images that show nude or partially-nude children, even when this content is shared with good intentions.

Be authentic

You don’t have to use your real name on Miit, but don’t impersonate others and don't create accounts for the purpose of violating our guidelines or misleading others.

Follow the law.

As a local network Miit will always attempt to adhere to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it’s being accessed. If something is illegal where you are, it is also not going to be allowed on Miit in that jurisdiction. This extends to support or praise of the prohibited activity.

Offering sexual services, buying or selling firearms, alcohol, and tobacco products between private individuals, and buying or selling illegal or prescription drugs (even if legal in your region) are also not allowed.

Miit also prohibits the sale of live animals between private individuals, though brick-and-mortar stores may offer these sales. No one may coordinate poaching or selling of endangered species or their parts.

We have zero tolerance when it comes to sharing, promoting, praising or otherwise speaking positively about sexual content or activity involving minors, cruelty to animals, acts of violence or threatening to post intimate images or personal details of others. Miit will alert and cooperate fully with the relevant authorities should this content be shared on our platform.

Miit is not a publisher, but we follow many of the same guidelines.

In short this means if the tone of conversation would not be appropriate for a national newspaper or broadcast, it likely is not appropriate for Miit. We believe in civility and decency.

We don’t want to police your speech, but don’t be a jerk about it. While we encourage robust conversation even around uncomfortable topics we do not allow crass, vulgar or abusive language or the use of slurs or derogatory tropes.

Respect other members of the Miit community.

We want to foster a positive, diverse community. We remove content that contains credible threats, content that targets private individuals to degrade or shame them, personal information meant to blackmail or harass someone (doxing), and repeated unwanted messages.

It's never OK to encourage violence or attack anyone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disabilities, or diseases.

Serious threats of harm to public and personal safety aren't allowed. This includes specific threats of physical harm as well as threats of theft, vandalism, and other financial harm.

This also includes self-harm or encouraging, glorifying or urging people to embrace self-injury. We may also remove content identifying victims or survivors of self-injury if the content targets them for attack or humour.

Be thoughtful when posting newsworthy events.

We understand that people use Miit to share important and newsworthy events. Some of these issues can involve graphic images. Because so many different people and age groups use Miit, we may remove videos of intense, graphic violence to make sure Miit stays appropriate for everyone.

Sharing graphic images for sadistic pleasure or to glorify violence is never allowed.

Help build a community we can all be proud of:

Each of us is an important part of the Miit community. If you see something that you think may violate our guidelines, please help us by using our built-in reporting option.

To err on the side of safety, content reported in the app is temporarily removed automatically. We then work as quickly as possible to review each report and either permanently remove content that doesn’t meet our guidelines or restore it if we find it wasn’t in violation. We understand that this may mean some content is unfairly removed, even if temporary, but believe it is an important choice in protecting the most vulnerable in our community.

You may find content you don’t like but doesn’t violate the Community Guidelines. If that happens, you can hide it or mute or block the person who posted it.
